A Scientific Approach to Scars and Adhesions

This course* will take an evidence-based approach to the treatment of complications due to surgically or trauma-induced adhesions. The process of scarring and adhesion formation will be presented with an eye to effective timing and science available for treatments.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Knowledge of surgical and medical interventions.
  • Knowledge of presentation patterns.
  • Understanding cellular level healing mechanisms
  • Confidence and understanding sufficient to initiate safe treatment.
  • Evidence informed approaches to treatments.

This course is registered with the CMTBC for 14 credits and is a two-day, 14-hour session.
